who can join?
Any school-aged swimmer interested in joining Northern Stars Swimming Club must be between 6 and 18 years old. For swimmers who are not school-aged but wish to become members, please contact our Club Secretary.
Please note, entry for non-school-aged swimmers is subject to approval by the Executive Committee.
how can i join?
To join Northern Stars Swimming Club, the first step is to get in touch and schedule a "come and try" session. During this session, your swimmer will be guided through a few water and land-based activities while being assessed by our coach. This helps us understand their skill level and ensure the best possible fit within our programs.
how do i register & what are the costs?
To join Northern Stars Swimming Club, memberships are available through Swim Central. Fees vary depending on the age and participation level of your swimmer. Club memberships are paid annually, with the season running from July 1st to June 30th.

All swimmers are required to have a current Swim Central membership. This membership not only supports swimming nationwide but also provides essential accident and medical insurance for every swimmer and club. It ensures that each swimmer is covered during any organized practice and at every Swimming Australia, Queensland, and North Queensland-sanctioned competition.
how well does my child need to swim to join?
Swimmers must be able to navigate the pool safely and independently, and they should be willing to engage in the various drills and activities during swim squad sessions. It is essential that your child can swim freestyle and has a basic understanding of breaststroke and backstroke. While perfection in technique is not required, our coach is dedicated to helping each swimmer improve their skills throughout the training sessions. This supportive environment allows young athletes to build confidence and enhance their performance in the water.
What volunteer opportunities are there for me as a parent?
Northern Stars Swimming Club is a parent-run volunteer organization that depends on the active support of parents in various capacities. From timekeeping and cooking the BBQ to making small donations and assisting in securing sponsorships, every contribution helps shape our community. what equipment will my child need?
At the time of registration, you will receive a list of essential equipment your swimmer will need for successful training sessions.
